Although predominantly a metal spinning business, we also have experience in fabrication of parts. We often receive enquiries from customers , who want a one off bespoke part made from a simple drawing or a general idea.
Here are some examples of some fabricated pieces we have produced
Fireplace Surround
A customer had recently installed a log burner in their premises and was delighted at how this addition had improved the warmth of their lounge but had also become a focal point in the room.
As the log burner was installed in a cottage fire place, the external bricks were badly damaged and this was more noticeable against the contrast of the black of the long burner.
Our customer came to us with a simple sketch of what they required and some dimensions for a fireplace surround that would fit in the fire surround, which would be powder coated black.
Having looked at the simple sketch, we advised the customers of some changes we would make in regards to the depth of the surround and making the external edges more aesthetically pleasing.
This was a relatively simple job, which required guillotining, folding , welding and powder coating.
The best part of this fabricated part, was seeing a picture of the fireplace surround installed and just in time for Christmas!
Porthole Surround
Often, we receive enquiries from the construction industry, particularly when their is a requirement for bespoke parts to be fabricated at very short notice.
For the porthole surround, we received an initial enquiry from a building company based in Brighton, who had been renovating a property and after tiling around a recessed window, required an edge to cover the edge of the tiles.
All we had to go from for the enquiry, was a photograph of the recessed window and a requirement for this to be covered with a 20mm x 20mm angle trim, powder coated black.
Having discussed with our customer what look they wanted to achieve, their initial thought was to produce the trim as a rolled and welded angle trim. We decided that the most effective route would be to produce this as a spinning and our customer was delighted with this proposal as this was one complete piece.
As this was such a bespoke part to fit the tiled space, plus accommodating the straight edges of the tiles, our customer made a template, which would enable the trim to fit in the recess without any modifications.
The trim was spun out of a 2.0mm Aluminium washer, which was then powder coated black.
What I enjoy most about one off bespoke fabrications, is seeing the finished part installed and knowing that Artec Engineering has helped to provide a solution to a problem and getting feedback from our customer with the following comment:
‘Justin wanted to say a big thankyou for the recent metalwork you provided for us. It fits perfect, and the client is very happy’
Outdoor Storage Unit
We are fortunate enough to be situated near a beautiful nature reserve in Emsworth, Hampshire. This is a beautiful place to take a walk through at lunchtime and observing the changes during the seasons.
The upkeep on the nature reserve is undertaken by a group of volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain this site and encourage wildlife in an urban area.
With maintaining the site, this requires tools and equipment to be stored on site and we were asked by to fabricate a galvanised steel storage unit with two doors and a secure lock to some set dimensions.
Following discussions between our sheet metal worker, welder and Works Manager, a simple drawing was created to show the customer and get their sign off. I feel that this process sets Artec Engineering apart from other companies, as we value the input of our employees and the collaborative process.
Completed Storage Unit
The storage unit was made in mild steel box section, which was cut to length and then welded.
The frame was then clad in galvanised steel sheet, before two hinged doors were added, with a tamper proof lock for extra security.
Meadowbrook then painted the finished storage unit at a later date in green paint.
These are just some examples of the fabrication work we have produced at Artec Engineering Precision Metal Spinners
