What materials can you spin?

2
3

We can spin the following materials:

  • Aluminium
  • Brass
  • Copper
  • Mild Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Titanium Alloy
  • Inconnel
  • Hastalloy
  • Monel
  • Corten

What gauge material can be spun?

2
3

We can spin up to 5mm st/st, 6mm m/st & 7.00mm Alloy.

Will type of tooling will I require?

2
3

This will be dependent on the item being produced and the volume of parts being spun.

The tooling often referred to as a mandrel/chuck can be made from wood, steel alloys, or synthetic materials.

Which material is used will be determined by the hardness of the material to be spun and the volume of work being produced on the tool.

Being able to manufacture tooling in house, enables us to achieve shorter lead times and any modifications can be achieved without the need for new tooling.

What size diameter can be spun?

2
3

Metal spinning – Manual / CNC / PLB capacity:

Up to 1.5 mtr dia x 6.0mm st st and 3.0 mtr dia x 3.0mm alloy.

What are the advantages of metal spinning?

2
3

Spun parts have greater reliability and also refines the grain structure of the metal, which results in improved mechanical properties such as increased tensile strength, toughness, and hardness.

Metal spinning has simpler, easier to maintain, and more cost-effective tooling than stamping, casting, forging, and hydroforming processes, with soft and inexpensive tooling being used for low production demands or one-time production.

Metal spinning also produces relatively smaller amounts of material waste.
